On day 4 of ulcer treatment.. rantidine 3 times daily and omerpazole paste and he STINKS something awful tonight.. Hes shedding like crazy and I noticed the odor right away.. Is this normal? The two could not be related but dang it was a very odorly aroma that clung to everything.. Hes had several baths and he stunk like old dirty manure when he came in from the the neglect but this is a different kind of stink..  Ive treated horses for ulcers before and never noticed a smell, but we didn't need to treat as aggresively as we are now either and they were all in good health to start with..

I have noticed with some horses, during ulcer problems, their poop gets a nasty acrid smell. I think this can be helped by getting them on a good probiotic paste to get their guts working again. Forco is an excellent thing to add as well. I never treat for ulcers without adding probiotic paste.

Does this sound right? If not, it's probably time to do a full scrub with iodine based shampoo of body and hooves, see if anything turns up as an infection pocket or something related.

Not so much his manure, as its just the odor coming out of his skin and hair.. Manure seems normal

That is weird. Have you tried GastroPLUS? I know it is not only for ulcers but also for digestive health. May help with everything else.

Perhaps you need to do a detox as well. When I did a detox an odor was present from all of my horse. My guess it is the gas removing itself from your horse' stomach and that smell is never pleasant.

Thanks.. No trush.. Poor guy gets his feet picked out so much hes on auto pilot and picks them up in rotation for me when he see the hoof pick come out.. LOL  He is ceratinly feeling better everyday, so even if he is stinky its not that he does not feel well. I will sure be glad when this month is over and so will he. He is not at all happy about the treatment.
