Obviously this a concentrated foundation (cow)bred stud primarily. Not bad but nothing super exciting to me either.

I don't know if she's on here anymore but one of our board buddies, Palapony, parents owed both Docs Decathalon (named after Bruce jenner when the Olympics were going on and he cleaned up on the medals) and Doc O Lon.  I think I remember her telling me that the horse went to Europe after her dad's death.

We stood this guy for awhile
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/doctor+nick+dixie and sold him some years back.  Still have a palamino gelding who isn't real big but has a good temperment and work eithic

m
Well yes I could have told you that ;) I guess I was just wondering if anyone recognized any of the names on there and if they had accomplished anything. I'm curious about the whole idea of outcrossing in my breeding...maybe not so much into other breeds but possibly more cowy bred quarter horses or possibly some thoroughbreds. Did anyone read the article in Barrel Horse News about the quarter horse breed and the need for outcrossing??
Yes, I did read the article. I also just looked up the pedigrees on the top 8 horses that won the American Slack. Several of them have crosses to what I would call Cowbred or foundation lines. (Smart Chic Olena, Son O Sugar, Skipper W, Magnolia Bar, Doc Bar, Im a Freckles too, Docs Hickory & Diamonds Cross.) So yes, I like a run/cowbred cross!!

I also am a fan of cow crossed on run. I am determined to own a Fiestas Gotta Gun one of these days!!  My current rodeo horse has Smart Chic Olena on his papers and although he is cowbred on both sides he is larger than most with similar pedigrees and is an all around athlete.
