| Horse A-
Never been cinchy ever, pulled him out after a month break and he now swishes his tail and pins his ears when I cinch him up. His perfect circles are becoming flatter, he almost swings his hips out when I trot big circles. He used to have amazing round circles, does he need a chiro?
Horse B-
He's a roping horse and does everything better to the left, until now. He doesn't flex to the left, but is perfect to the right. He pins his ears when I make him pick up his left lead, tail swishing and everything. He refuses to tip his nose to the left when loping left circles, and even threw a huge fit when I switched from right to left circles, took the bit, and acted like he was gonna crow hop. Like I said, his left is usually his strong side.
Horse C-
He has had soundness issues all summer, but is finally perfectly sound. I've noticed he is always cocking the same foot at the trailer, and drops that hip waaay low when standing. When I try to move him over at the trailer, he refuses and it takes a LOT of muscle to move him over, sidepassing in the saddle is almost impossible, and it never used to be. He has been really bobbing his head when trotting even with a bit change, his lope is a rocking horse motion, really up and down. All these things I have noticed in the last few weeks, all new for him.
All my horses are falling apart lately! Do you think each could benefit from a chiro? We have never had many issues and never had a chiro come out. Seems like this winter they all have different problems. Thanks in advanced! | |

Horse A may have ulcers or ribs out
Horse B may be out, have teeth bothering him or even hocks/stifles etc etc
Horse C chiro may help, but I would check for SI and or Pelvis issues
that is just amonst all the other things that may be going wrong | |

| Aside from the one with a month off, did the rest come on suddenly?
Sudden issues in horses ridden regularly, I tend to look to the chiro first. Slips, falls etc can throw them out. I'm in Iowa as well as our weather has been so crazy, knock on wood I'm surprised we haven't had any trouble.
If they have come on over time or all 3 horses are coming off a break, I would consider other issues as well like Krystal suggested.
Whereabouts in Iowa are you? We have Kit with Animal Krackers coming through at the end of March. | |

Horse A I would get him popped and see how he feels. What kind of body condition and hair coat does he have? I agree that ulcers might be bugging him.
Horse B might be experiencing sore hocks, teeth need done, several things. He might need to see the vet for a lameness.
Horse C reminds me of sore hocks a lot. I would also try getting him to the vet for a lameness exam. | |

Horse A has a sleek shiny coat and excellent body condition, he has completely shed out and regrown his winter hair because there was a little warm up, he got a new buddy in his pen so maybe stress is causing ulcers? I haven't lunged any of them lately, horse B is just stiff, not lame. Thanks! I think we are gonna have a Chiro come out soon. | |

Location: Phoenix | I'll tell you this...Horse C sounds alot like mine. Kind of had a hitch in his lope, no power in the back end, almost like he was loping in place--wasn't coveribg any ground. He's taken a couple of falls where he's slipped and fallen on his side. He's always been "sound" and not off....but not 100% either. But not enough to warrant a vet out, especially since I didn't have the money. I had a vet out for some swelling in his knee and had him conduct a lameness exam as well. We ended up injecting his SI (which I always suspected soreness due to his falls) and his hocks because he flexed sore and I know he's got arthritis in his hocks.
I've been bringing him back and he's a lot more free in his hind end and has such enthusiasm even WALKING! I will probably have the Chiro out now to get him all squared away. What I'm getting at, is over the years, I've had the Chiro out countless times and while it provided relief, it never really fixed the issue. For Horse C, I would get a vet out.
Horse A and B would probably benefit from the Chiro. Horse A might have ulcers and/or saddle fit issue. | |

Location: North Dakota | Horse B is somewhat similar to mine. I just had the chiro out today and I cold tell right away they he is feeling better. Poor guy was out in several places from his neck to his rump. So If I were you, having a chiro out to check them is a good (and relatively inexpensive) place to start. If the chiro helps them, you may still want to have a vet go over them as well to see if there's anything causing them to be out. That's what I'm doing anyway. | |
