If you make the short go, you run in the short go and just give up your insurance race money you paid.

Sign up usually goes smoothly, depending on what time of day you get there. There can be a rather large line, but usually goes fairly quickly.

I don't have any complaints about any of the barns. I prefer to be stalled further away from the main running barns just because it is quieter for the horses and doesn't seem to be as dusty.

It is usually a wonderful show. Lots of walking as things are very spread out, but that is expected with a show of this size. Lots of good vendors! I always love going to this show. Unfortunately I am not going this year, but will hopefully be able to go in the future.

If you make the short go you forfiet your fees/entry in the insurance race.

IMO everything runs incredibly smoothly.  The only exception may be moving in upon arrival. The actual unloading goes good because there are workers driving golf carts who will load up your stuff and drive it to your stalls. The shear volume of traffic does lead to a lot of congestion.  This is in many ways caused by the funneling of all traffic down the west side of the barns and up the east side of the barns.  When people are finished unloading they are unable to exit the area because thru lanes are blocked by other trailers trying to unload.  There is a simple solution if the facility would cooperate by temporarily opening some of the blocked roads.

Stalls are all new and excellent.  They are all on concrete so you may want to bring or rent stall mats.  I want a lot of bedding on top to add more cushion.

All in all awesomely produced.

If you don't enter the insurance race before hand.. can you enter at the show if you don't make it back.  That is the way the did it when they first started the race... has that changed?

I believe you have to enter the insurance race at the same time you enter the finals race.  Have no clue about how it was in history prior to the last couple of years.

Be in shape! It's a long way to get to anywhere. The main barn has zero ventilation so it stinks. I had a corner stall in between two of the big doors and it still stunk after a couple of days. It didn't help that the lady one row over kept smoking ! I had show management go tell her to stop but she kept right on smoking. Sat in her lawn chair in front of her stall and smoked all day. You and your horse can stand in line for-e-ver to get checked in. Make sure you understand the schedule. I was in the show office when a teen and her mom came in crying because they didn't understand the whole backwards barn 6 thing and she missed her run. It's one way around the facility so you have to drive around by Mary's house to get anywhere. Watch out for the golf carts! They zip around like crazy.

So......the way they run so many riders in a short time is to run the draw in order in one arena while they run it in reverse order at the same time in another arena ???????

Yes, the first go is running in the coliseum while the 2nd go is running in barn 6.  Approximately 1/3 of the contestants will be running in each pen every day.  So you will run two out of three days (Thurs, Fri, Sat) once in each arena.  Those running in the coliseunm run in ascending order and those running in barn 6 run in descending order.   It will become clear when the actual schedule is posted.  I don't believe it can be posted until they have all the entries and know the actual number of entries.  As a side note the new member, non qualifer race etc will also be running in barn 8 at the same time.

Answered my own question-4 and 5 year olds in the futurity.
