Somehow I ended up with Sharon Roberts' old gelding Somebunny Special. When I found out tonight that he used to be Runfast's horse, my thoughts on what to do with him took an about face. Since her passing he has not had the greatest life. If anyone knows him personally, I would love any info you can give me. He needs a lot of care, and the story is not a great one. I'd like him to stay here if I can manage it. He needs a lot of rehab still, but we are half way there. The oddest part of this story is that he was to be my last barrel horse as I have congestive heart failure and after many years off (used to be TnT on here) I decided to try to run a few final seasons.

Right this moment I feel Deke (used to be Decatur) was supposed to find me before he ended up in a slaughter pen.

Was that the bay horse? I saw her run in our area quite often. I think her husband was a bulldogger. Was he unable to keep him after he lost his wife? Very, very sad.
Im very sorry to hear of your bad heart and I hope you will both bring each other joy and caring.

I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems. Sending prayers.

I knew Sharon and ran against her all the time but I never paid attention to her runs. Kel from Animal Krackers, was hauling some with her and probably would be your best person to contact. Kel 602-618-9562.

Best of luck to you. May the healing begin.

I wonder if this is the one that fractured his C 3 and 4?  She never said his name.  This PM was from 2010.  Good luck with him, happy he found a good home.

Yes this is the big bay she was running in 2010 and 2011. She made a lot of runs on him.

I don't think so. She ran him a lot in 2010 and 2011. I don't think that would have been possible with that sort of injury. His issues (I believe) began after Sharon passed away and he was sold.

He tore one or more tendons in his left stifle and now has a bone spur there. I'm trying to decide whether to cut my losses or if there is a chance at maintaining him and still running him at jackpots. I saved for awhile to buy a finished horse again, and was dooped. Vet check did not find everything. It wasn't until he broke 3 weeks after buying him that we realized the extent of his past injury.

So now I have a very expensive pasture pet, and I'm patterning an old (21) ex-reiner because that's all I could afford. At least she is sound.

Anyone have experience with this sort of stifle issue? I'd love to hear from you if you have. Deke is rather special in how quickly we clicked with my health and balance issues. Then to find he was Sharon's old horse--she helped me a lot over the years on BHW--I would like to try to finish his rehab. I think he deserves that.
