Location: TN | Who has one of the newer Martin FX3 or has ridden in one?
I'm waiting on a demo saddle to try it out in the next 2 weeks so I'm dying to know how it rides - particularly in comparison to the Crown C.
Educate me please! |

Location: TN | Thanks! Sounds like something I would like since I've been having issues with getting thrown forward in my turns in the Crown C I have. |

| I don't want to steal your thread, but I am curious about this as well and am wondering if anyone has any pictures of an FX3 compared to a Crown C sitting properly on a horse's back. I would like to see the difference in the way they sit |

| I ride two of my horses in FX3 saddles and four others in Crown C saddles. The FX3 saddles keep me in my seat better in the turns on my really quick turning horses. But they also easily allow me up and over and lean me slightly forward leaving the barrel and running between.
I ride Crown C saddles on my longer strided "slower" turning horses. One thing I've noticed is the FX3 stirrups are a little more free swinging than my Crown C. When I ran my quick turners in the Crown C I sometimes lost my balance and nearly fell off a few times. That is why I switched those horses to the FX3 saddles. |

My understanding is the bars, gullet, etc are the same in both saddles.
The only difference is in the stirrup placement, and the shape of the seat |

Great information, thank you!! I'm so ready for the demo to get here so I can test it out for my horse and myself! I hope it helps me sit down in the turns. |

Location: TN | Does a 9"+ gullet require you to go up in seat size?
I'm thinking my 13.5 Crown C is a little small so I'd like to go up to 14 in the FX3 but not sure if with the wider gullet I'd need to go all the way up to 14.5. I don't want it to be too big where I get behind or too small where Im pushed forward. |

Ask martin for a trial, I made the mistake of going up a size and still regretting it.
I also heard the fx3 are more roomy |

I'm dying for a new saddle so I'm impatient to try one and figure out what I need. Just heard back and he said they should be able to ship out a Crown C to fit my horse and a 7" FX3 to see how I like it.

Location: Texas | KatieMac - Brian with Martin Saddles fitted me in a 15.5 and I normally ride a 15 with the gullet on the saddle being a 10. So maybe you have a point there.
