do you have a stencil for the "print" or do you guys do freehand on everything? (Obviously the zebra is freehand.) |

It depends on what I'm painting. The felt Aztec was done with a ruler for most of it. I cut out a piece of cardboard in shapes I liked for the pattern. The zebra was freehand, as well as the initials. I printed out a cross I liked from Google, and also a wing. I just flipped the wing so it would match. I'll try to load 2 more. If they load, the pink one I traced pretty much everything but the initials. It was the first one I did. The cheetah was completely freehand. I was having a very good "artist" day doing that sugar skull, LOL. Well the only pics I have are off Instagram and I put filters on them for some reason. But you get the idea!
Ahh, I'm on my phone and will not let me post the pic of the cheetah print with feathers and sugar skull :(
If any of y'all are on Instagram I'm KRISTEN_LEE90, they're on there

Amazing work! Β Thanks for the help! Β
Thanks everyone!! I forgot to add, when you're done let the paint dry really well, then spray an acrylic sealer over the paint. That will make it super glossy and help waterproof it. It's not as hard as it looks and does NOT cost near as much as you see them priced online. I can freehand a lot but anyone can use a stencil, you can't tell the difference. If you do a felt expect to use a LOT of paint, even with a primer it just soaks it up.
I thought I something else... To center the design, put the hat on your head and get it just right, then take a pencil and mark the center. Then put it on backwards and do the same for the back. Those bands are never perfectly straight, and sometimes a hat looks shaped great on you head but crooked looking down at it. You want to make it square on your head bc that's when everyone else will be looking at it.
