Location: on my horse | I've been a diehard tipperary sportage helmet fan for the last couple years but have been eyeballing the ovation line that looks jut like the sportage. Has anybody tried both and can comment on how they compare fit wise?
The ovation is about half price and I'm tempted to order a light colored one for summer riding but nobody here carries them.

Location: MI | I just went yesterday and tried the ovation against some others in the same price range. I wanted to like it, but the inserts (I thought) felt really scratchy. :( My kids have them though and have never mentioned that. |

Location: Oklahoma | I prefer the ovation over the tipperary because I personally hate how far down on the back of my head the tipperary goes. My daughter has the ovation. I like the coolmax lining you can get in the ovation plus the fact the liner can be washed and replaced and it isn't just the little pads that the tipperary is. Here's a pic of my kiddo in her ovation.

Location: NC | My friend has the Ovation Schooler. It's more of a round fit compared to the oval fit of the Sportage, if that makes sense.
I'm curious to know how the Ovation Protege fits since I really do like the fit of the schooler, but prefer the look and vents and back protection offered by the Protege (Sportage look alike).

Location: on my horse | Very interesting, I'm needing something that is more "round" the tipperary fits ok and I fill in the gaps with pads until its a snug correct fit.
After I posted this I went to our local tack store and tried on a couple helmets, I ended up going with a new model Troxel, the old ones didn't fit me well at all, but this one that I tried on fit great and is also fairly low profile. It's an Intrepid if I remember correctly. It isn't light colored like I was going for but the fit is much better! I will probably still order a light colored ovation to try as the weather gets hotter especially if those of you that have tried it think it's less oval shaped than the Tipperary. |

Definitely more round fit for sure. At least in the schooler |

The Protege from Ovation also has the lower back design. I was wondering if they also had a more round fit like the schooler. I love my tipperary. But I would like a more uniform fit all the way around. |
