| I am filling out the BBR World Finals entry form and I haven't been in a few years. Has the main entry fee gone way up? Why do I remember it being $175? It is now $250. I don't mind paying more if I am getting more. I always liked this show but haven't been in awhile...I hope to be reall dazzled by those prices! |

Location: Oklahoma | It was $180 a horse until 3ish years ago. I went once after they upped it. I could run 2 horses for 400, but when they upped it I spent almost $550 to run 2 that is without side pots and stalls. |

| That is the main reason I am not going this year. I figured up my entries with stall and incentives, fuel, eats, RV hookup, etc and it was going to cost me about $1000 for those 5 days. I can go all summer to things closer to home for that amount. So, I opted out this year. I do love that show, but I just can't justify spending that kind of money for 1 barrel race!! |

It's always been the case but it has gone way up. I think I went in 2011 and it was not $250 for the main race not even close. Has the payout gone up significantly? Doesn't bother me to pay more if I have a chance at winning more. I'd just like to know what we are getting for the increase. I love the event! |

| I don't know if it is the case with BBR but I tend to feel like a lot of the big open barrel races are really concentrating on the futurities and seeing the opens as an afterthought. |

I can speak for Wrapn3 in that most of our sponsors want the added money all in the open but we have a few that want their money added to a futurity as they breed and market for the futurity industry. |

Have you seen the payout in the finals?? They pay 30 spots and last place is around $200, 1st in a D is a few thousand... More people got checks than the people that did get checks in the finals last year if you have a clean run |

I've been a BBR member for a long time, and have gone to the finals for years. However, the last time I went, 2 years ago, it was a mad house. They were running in 3 arenas, there was very limited room to warm up anywhere. All hookups were gone by the time we got there the afternoon before it started. My daughter and I decided we might sit out the next year, and this year I didn't have a horse, so I'm sitting this one out too.
It is a great event, but unless you have a top 1D horse, your chances of getting a check out of 1500 entries is limited. If you have the money, it's a great experience. I'm planning to make the August event, a little less expensive, same great facility, and a few less folks.
Good luck to all that go.

Location: Nebraska | it's been a few years since I've gone but I much prefer the Bonus Race Finals over the BBR. OKC was great but the BRF is closer to me so I don't have to pay as much. I plan on getting my BBR membership this year and trying for OKC next year. I wish the finals were later though because sometimes it all depends on the winter we have whether or not I will have a fully legged up horse. |
