| cheryl makofka - 2015-03-09 4:59 PM I want more information before making a judgement. Yes you are paying the trainer, but the trainer also has other responsibilities, other clients, families, etc sometimes it is hard to drop everything to do as a client wants. Did you contact the trainer before, did you book a time, and why wasn't the horse trimmed prior to dropping off at the trainer? You said it took you 1 hr to get the horses feet done. You wasted that trainers hour, time is money. I can understand how his day went, as my day can go that way too, if he had to go to town, he may have had a change of heart and thought to work the horse for 20-30 min before he went to town. Also how/why did you choose this trainer? Price, I do believe you pay for what you get, if he is cheap then you know why. Have you spoke with other clients, what feedback did they give Did you watch him work other horses, did you like what you seen? When you dropped the horse off, did you specifically say you wanted to be there, and when you left did you ask to be contacted with a time he would be getting on? I have used the same trainer for years, if the horse won't fit his program, he sends me to one of his friends who will work. Personally I actually only speak with them one or two times during the month, after the first week, then near the end. I don't need updates unless something occurs, other then that I would rather him spend time with the horse then me talking to him.
Re read her original post... She waited around for him to ride the mare and as soon as she left he had time to ride in the time she was gone!! It sounded like she really didn't NEED to go to town but felt she was waisting her time waiting on him.

Can reread it as op deleted it. This makes me go hmmm
My point, if she booked a time, the trainer looked at the horse, advocated for the horse, said the feet had to be trimmed before he would work said horse. I applaud the trainer for doing this.
The op said it took an hour to get her feet trimmed, this is while still tying up the trainers time, I am not sure, but that hour was probably the time scheduled to ride that horse.
This is where I may have been wrong, I thought the trainer had errands to do and couldn't ride the horse immediately, therefore the op left.
Then 10 min later she received a call stating the horse was broncy. I can understand that the trainer had a change of mind and decided to get it over with instead of doing his errands.
As I said to make a more qualified decision, there needs to be more info, this the op would have to answer, if she chooses not to on the forum, fine.
With only hearing part of the story, I don't jump to blame the trainer.
Everyone may be right to say go get the horse, or it may be premature, only the op can answer that.
