I have a two horse slant. My main gelding is too big to fit in the front slant, but if I'm hauling two horses he gets the back slant and fits fine. I have just been securing the divider, tie him as if he was in the front slant and let him have the entire trailer space.... But what's the best thing to do? Should I do that or should I close the slant and only allow him to have the back space?

I popped my divider out of mine to combat this problem as I'm usually just hauling one.

when I do this I take the divider out completely. my divider has lots of things to keep it from banging, but it has this annoying squeak and rattle when it isn't engaged. Couldn't imagine being a horse having to listen to that for hours in the trailer..

I would keep doing what you're doing. You don't want that much weight on the very back of your trailer.

Thanks everyone.  I'd love to take the divider out, but I seem to be hauling two horses more often than not now.  We should hopefully be getting a bigger trailer pretty soon and then I will probably take the divider out for the one big gelding.  I'm lucky he doesn't like to dance around!
