Best Ever Pads? I know they're not a 5 Star or a CSI, I know everyone has their preferences, but for a cheaper, spare pad? Anyone?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to last nearly as long as the YEARS people seem to get out of the others. I was just wondering if anyone had used them and found them to be worth the price to have on hand.

I saw some in person. The "cheaper" ones felt more coarse, while the more expensive wool felt comparable to a 5 Star, but I have never used one.

I have the Cadillac Best Ever Pad that works very well with my Crown C. I also have a 5 star, esp,smx air. My favorite is the 5 star. If I didn't need a pad that was built up in the front then this would be my order of favorites.

5 Star is my absolute favorite
Best Ever seems lesser quality but I like the fact that I could have it built up a little. ( my horse runs downhill)
ESP Pad. It was ok but I had to keep tightening my girth.
CSI Pad. Just touching the bottom wool hurt my hands.
SMX Air Ortho was way too thin for my liking.

I know you didn't ask about the others but I love pad threads.

I had a best ever pad and it broke down very quickly. And I only used it for runs. Didn't last 6 months.

Yes they break down quick, I have personally seen a few friends of mines 1" koosh best ever pad develop fuzz balls everywhere and the ends were seperating only after about a year of use. I got lucky enough to try a five star last year for a few months and loved it. And ended up receiving one last year at my BR finals.:)
My gelding and a mare I have in training were both getting hair missing on their loins from a classic equine that got stiff even with perceptual cleaning. Went to the 5 star it stopped completely and my horses feel more comfortable and it stays super pliable and soft!

If I was going to go for a cheaper spare pad I would get another Todd Slone.

Β If I'm not mistaken I think Fallon Taylor runs/rides in these. I got one rode in it a few times it does seem like they would break down fast but I'm not sure.... I haven't rode in mine enough to tell!

Good to know! I was checking them out just now, not to sound ignorant, but there's not a 30x30 I always go with, is the 30x32 contour the way you recommend or the 28x30 small square pad?

Its been years since I bought my Todd Slone, but if I remember right its the small square, fits under my barrel saddles real nice, and it does contour to my horses back but not as much as the 5 Stars. The only barrel saddle that it dont fit the way I like is under my Crown C, the C has a bit more skirt then my Double J's.
