I cannot imagine being a passenger and witnessing the pilot banging on the door and noticing the plane descending. Horrific. Agree my husband flies every week this hurts my heart and scares me as well. Not only could they hear the pilot trying to get back in but the passengers. It's bad enough to kill ones self but to have a motive to take a whole plane it's hard to comprehend....but we see this more and more for whatever reason.... In the U.S., it's required for someone else to be in the cockpit (like a flight attendant) so at least two people are in there when one of the pilots leave. Procedure was put in place aftre 9/11. I bet that is something put in place overnight in Europe now. Yes that's what I heard also.........and yes apparently the locking system on this plane was only good for 5 min but the copilot pushed the override button........lord so sad.
Glad that you knew. I thought it might be a little comforting to know that if your husband flies just here in the States. My sister flies all over the world and this gives me something else to worry about now besides for what we usually do. Will say a prayer for you and your husband that his flying travels stay good. |

I'm surprised no one took an ax to the door, although I don't know how long it takes to descend 8 miles either...............
So for eight miles they all had to think about dying.
Horrible.
I don't think there's any weapons on planes anymore. |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | hammer_time - 2015-03-26 10:09 AM How far removed from society do you have to be to commit suicide and murder 150 others? Sickening and so so sad. :(
This is my thoughts as well.... There are no follow up psychological testing after a pilot has been hired. Then again, maybe something tramatic just happened in the co-pilot's life and nothing or no one could have forseen that he would do something as terrible as this.
Hearts and prayers to all the family and friends affected, what a tragic loss of lives... |

| I have thought about this all day. If your life is so miserable and you hate yourself so much, don't freaking take it out on everyone around you. |

it was reported on the news, that the pilot was trying to break down the door with an axe, and that it is a standard safety feature on that type of plane |

| This incident just hurts my heart. I can imagine how devestated that little community is that lost all those kids... Such insane cruelty. Between this and the women who attacked the pregant lady and stabbed her my heart is reeling this week. The news just breaks my hear these days. |
