I recently aquired an 11 yr old mare from a friend. I know what the mare has done since my friend bought her about 5 years ago. She never could get her to really engage her hind end correctly and basically just had little knowledge on barrel horses period. So I get her, do her teeth, worm her, get some weight on and start riding her again. She really tries hard but something was wonky. Had my chiro come out and her back left hip appears to have some damage at some point. Obviously its a very old injury and she was not sore on it at all but she thought maybe it had been crushed a little at some point in her life. Does anyone have any experience on old hip injuries? Chances of bringing her back into racing etc. A heart warming story to make me feel better. LOL. Shes probably one of the sweetest mares I have ever been around.
