I was really looking forward to this show, and in all honesty I have been disappointed in the last 2 shows. I understand that you should be physically fit to barrel race, but that is something that we can do on our own. I also don't know why they had a dog trainer in the other episode. I'm interested in barrel racing and the inside look into being on the road and possibly tips. Just seeing how those people live and survive on the road. If they keep showing episodes like the last 2, they are going to lose their audience. New people that don't know anything about barrel racing aren't going to want to learn about getting fit and how to train dogs. They want to watch what this sport is all about. I guess I just don't understand the thought process in this. Even Dena can give us tips and better insight with her own experiences.....

I missed the first few and just picked up with the dog training one... kind of a teaser or a let-down to come in to that one, lol. Anyone know where I can catch up on the previous ones? I hope they re-air them at some point!

RFD has a country club where you pay $10 a month and you can watch episodes of any show at any time.

The show gives an insight into ALL training, and a look at the personalities and lifestyles of other top trainers and jockeys.  In effect, teaching us by getting OUT of our box - hence the title of the show, Racer's Edge.  The edge this show is emphasizing won't always be as obvious as other training sources so readily available.

Dena and producer Jeye Johnson honored our military and especially former Navy Seal Joshua Morton on last weeks show.   Joshua had one if not the most dangerous jobs as a SEAL.

For that alone we should appreciate the show for what it was.  If it served to be an inspiration to the viewer on how a person can give his all, then it will help you with your barrel racing.  If not . . . there are lots of other shows and clinics you can watch.

Last weekend we had  several special operations forces soldiers stay with us at the ranch.   They were impressed by Dena's comments and her efforts.  The show  also touched the "Band of Mothers" who love their boys and continue to try and figure out what makes these guys perform at the level they do.  Kind of like our 1D horses.

Please do not forget the ongoing war and the returning soldiers.   There are so  many training tools available for barrel racers.  I am deeply appreciative to Jeye and Dena for the content and the message of this episode.    The viewers got a glimpse of Dena's priorities and character..and that is treasure in and of itself.

Getting the "edge" in your own program may take many "out of the box" approaches.  Some have even parachuted out of an airplane, just too get their moxy back.  Running hard and fast enough to win takes an edge.  I enjoyed watching another person who lived on the edge.  The show made perfect sense if you are truly seeking that racer's edge - because more often it's an attitude, not a tool or technique.

Thank you for your input
:)

Dena also commented somewhere that training her dog required a special sensitivity to when to release and what pressure to use that she thought applied back to her horse training and gave her insight.

You could also compare the amount of pressure it takes to peel an orange to presssure on horses. Doesn't really make it relevant. While I see the comparison, there could have been a lot more focus on how to apply it to horses. Along with the exercise video. Compare muscles we use when riding and how to strengthen those specifically. Yes you should think outside the box but at the end of the day teaching an attack dog is different than teaching a horse. EVEN Dena stated that dogs are predator animals and horses are prey. DIFFERENT. Lets not forget that the show is how to help barrel racers who race horses.

I totally agree ^^^^  I'm not disrespecting any of our service men/women, but this show is supposed to be about barrel racing.  That's what it was promoted for and I really think it has gone way off subject.

I feel like they mean this show to be a preview because most of these girls sale videos and have clinics. I don't think they are ever going to have actual drills on there, you'll haft to pay for those.

I tend to agree with astreakinchic, but it would still be helpful for me to watch if that is what they are doing. It would then make it easier to decide whose clinic would match up with me better and who to go to when/if I was to start looking for a horse or trainer. I didn't mind the dog training show but I do wish they would start focusing on barrel racing now.

I thought it was good because it looks like Dena and some others do travel with "protection" dogs and it also shows the other side of the barrel racers; what they do off the road.

I love this show because I love all that is barrel racing. But to be honest I'm not tuning in to watch exercise or pet videos. I can and do get that else where. I really want to see barrel racing. I don't even care if it's training, clips, drills, tips...I just want to watch barrel racing. I hope this show can deliver that at some point.

I almost subscribed to RFDTV and the whole sports package that comes with it when I heard this show was coming out - I'm so glad I didn't now after hearing these reviews.  The $10.00 Country Club plan sounds so much better!

I love everything about the show and am very happy that we can watch it through the country club.
