Extreme Veteran Posts: 317 Location: Idaho	To the ladies that do the inlaid beading...do you sew the leather or do you take it somewhere to have it sewn? I've been beading with a loom and have sewn it onto a couple halters (I'll see if I can attach a pic) but I REALLY want a headstall or breastcollar..but I don't know how to do the other beading to make a headstall...maybe I'll have to attempt a piece for a noseband or a breastcollar. There are SO many different stitches you can learn! I learned from my friends mom. She is native and does so many amazing things with beads. I wish I was half as talented as her! You can look it up on youtube as well. Just search for "peyote stitch tutorial" and loom beading.

I only use size 15/0 beads and the strongest thread I can get get! You can teach yourself, it just takes time and practice. Expert Posts: 1767 Location: California	I just got into beading and leather work, and I decided I wanted to do everything. I've had a lot of learning curves but it's fun. My friend helped me get into it and she sends her stuff to a leather person, but they don't do any of the fancy leather work with it. Just sewing into plain leather. I want the fancy stuff so with youtube and trial and error I am teaching myself. This was my first dog collar I made for my dog. I cut the inlay part too wide for the beads not taking into account when the collar bends. That's how you learn! LOL. I don't have a sewing maching yet and still have to do all the stitching by hand. I'm pround of it for my first try though. Just have to keep practicing.
