I picked up a TB off the track in January and have kept him on the same feed. I've noticed lately he's having a hard time pooping... He really groans and it takes a bit of pushing. I have added aloe Vera juice to his diet because he shows some signs of ulcers(just wanted to see if I thought it helped at all). And he has free choice grass hay all the time. Hes lost muscle(not getting worked nearly as hard) and looks like crap now. He's also EXTREMELY lazy. Anyone have any ideas if they could be related? Before anyone freaks out to say call my vet, I will if he stops pooping or if I see more of a concern.... She's on maternity leave and I don't want to bug her unless needed!

Location: Beggs, OK		What are you feeding?  Do you have any mineral available or an electrolyte supplement to encourage him to drink more?  It sounds as though he may be dehydrated.
Aloe Vera will not help if he has ulcers.  You would have to actually treat him with something that would heal them.  

I would recommend getting a full blood panel done on him just to see what he might be lacking.

Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving		I had one come off the track and even though I adjusted her feed slowly she looked like crap for a few months after as well. I wormed her, treated her for ulcers, and floated her teeth.. I ended up soaking alfalfa pellets, purina senior, and stabilized rice bran in a big bucket and adding red cell (it's all I had local at the time), and aloe juice. I also gave her a probiotic yogurt for a week, mine started really turning around within 3 weeks. I did give her free choice hay and she was on pasture as summer came (which helped her ulcers after I treated them).

IF he continues I'd call a vet definitely however I would watch his water intake. I always go by the way they poop too, I was once told their stool should be little balls that when hit the ground in a group stick together. If they break apart he's not getting enough fluids, and if its soft and splatter he's got stomach problems/diarrhea.
