I am currently searching for a new feed for my mare. I was feeding Nutrena safechoice perform, and I actually really liked my mare on it. Then my roommate and I went to a mill and had them make us a feed that matched the Woodys Summer Heat grain, and I really like her on that, she seems a lot calmer, but now I am not living with that roommate anymore and getting that feed is hard. With all the ionophore things going on, I really don't want to go back to nutrena, but my choices around here are pretty limited. Has anyone had any experience with either of these feeds?
My mare is VERY prone to ulcers and can get VERY hot. I like her on the mill grain we had her on, but like I said I can't get that easily anymore, and she is starting to lose a* tad* bit of weight on it and I don't like that either.
I am also planning on adding forco to her feed, I just need a new feed! Other than that she will just be on a joint supplement and lysine in addition to the forco.
Thanks!!

I fed Buckeye Gro N Win for a year or so and LOVED it! They have a lot of different options and are a pretty awesome company. Quality for sure in my experience. I wouldn't hesitate to feed it again if we could get it locally!

Thank you! Its one of the few feeds available in my area so I am thinking it could be worth a shot to try if people like it!

I love the buckeye line

I feed the grow and win, is has a little lower fat then I like, so I give flax with it, it has a low NSC which is good for ulcer horses, and it is high in protein good for performance horses.

They also have a top dress called ultimate 100 (something like that) is is 100 fat you feed one oz it has the proper omega ratio, I fed grow and win, flax, and this to my weanlings this winter, and they came through looking better then ever before.

A buckeye bag will last you 30 days, the ultimate 100 feeding one horse would last you atleast 6 months

I also feed their mineral (they have two one for grass one for alfalfa fed) and my horses don't go through it as fast (it has no fillers, as opposed to others, I was shocked when I started looking into it), the quality of horses hooves (retired horses no special feed only grass fed) improved, even my riding horses who had crappy feet. Their feet become nicer less chipping, no cracking.

We feed total equine and LOVE it! A picky eater might take a little bit to adjust to it because it looks like dog food but our horse looked like a million bucks after we fed him it! Love FORCO too! :)
