Extreme Veteran Posts: 387	So I'm thinking this is ringworm or somthing along those lines. What do you treat with? Iv herd all kinds of home remidies. He had a small patch when I got him back from the trainer and I didn't think to much about it. But have him his own saddle and pad till it cleans up. It's exploded to this now when I was gone for the weekend. Looks like Girth Itch (same thing as ringworm). They have some sprays you can get to treat it. Lotrimin from the grocery store works too. However, my filly had something like this last fall. I treated for girth itch and it didn't work. Turned out it was threadworms. Wormed her twice with ivermectin and it went away. You might try both, just in case. One good possible indicator of threadworms, they will have a rawer spot right in the middle of their belly about three inches back from the girth line. But the spread looks more like girth itch.

Horsey Gene Carrier Posts: 1888 Location: LaBelle, Florida	I would bath with antifungal shampoo and treat as fungal infections. Treat anything that has come in contact with this horse and keep it seperate. Won't hurt to worm for thread worms as well.

Northern Chocolate Queen Posts: 16576 Location: ND	It almost looks like you have both girth itch & ringworm going on. I've never seen girth itch cause the circle's that are on your horses shoulder & leg, that looks like ringworm to me.

Location: KS	Get some fruit tree spray from Walmart. Mix one part of the spray to two parts water. Spray it on the affected area once a day for several days.

Can you post what kind of fruit tree spray? You might be talking about a pesticide...but I was wondering if it might be something comparable to tea tree oil which is basically all Calm Coat contains. I would be interested if its cheaper.
