**Before anyone suggests going to a vet... I have a call into the vet for an appt - just waiting for a return call**
I have a 2 year old AQHA filly that we noticed this weekend when she walks her left hip crack/pop
(like the sound of cracking your knuckles
). I am assuming its in a joint, but no idea what it could be. Shes been turned out for the past year with no injuries. Its doesn't seem to hurt her - If she trots or lopes its doesnt crack/pop anymore... Just at a walk.
Any ideas what it could be? I would like to be prepared when I talk to the vet.

After the suggestion to look at my fillys stifle, I think you are spot on!! My vet cannot get us in for nearly 3 weeks
(he is that booked
) and there isnt another vet that I trust the opinion of near me. I have our appointment set up but,has anyone ever encountered 2 year olds with a stifle problem? Am I looking at surgery?

I think it is too early to tell what will be needed
My vet never got concerned unless the horse wouldn't warm out of it, I could hear the clicking at the beginning of the ride for a few min, but if they continued then an exam was needed.
I would have the vet xray and ultrasound have him explain till you understand what is going on in that stifle.
I wouldn't do anything that day treatment wise, depending on the options, I may send copies of xray and ultrasound to a few more vets for other opinions.
Also make sure you get a copy of xray and ultrasound from the examining vet before you leave
