Location: Wyoming- where its always windy! | So I have a 2003 Trails West LQ 3 horse trailer. About a year ago, I forgot to lift up the foot on the Jack (idiotic I know) and hit the train tracks by my house and bent the foot. Thankfully I was only going about 5mph so the only thing that was damaged was the Jack foot which had to be cut with a saws all. I think that things inside the Jack may have gotten a little messed up though because now it's harder to crank. So I would really like to replace this Jack, has anyone had this done and have advice? I have a welder to do the job, just don't know where to get the Jack from or what else to do in that department. Any input is appreciated! TIA |

Location: SE Louisiana | They have jacks that are held to the frame by brackets... One of those takes about 5 mins to put on.. |

| You might try taking the top cap off and making sure that it is oiled up really well. If you are lucky maybe that is all that is wrong with it. A lot off people don't realize that they need to do that from time to time but it has gears in there that need oil. I don't like grease because it doesn't stay down on the gears like a good heavy oil will. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | There are nuts underneath next to the jack.you should see 3 maybe 4 on the frame .these hold the jack in place. Take those off and remove jack. Go to horse trailer place get a new one . Somewhere around $35 to $100 depending on what they have..just need something to remove bolts. |

Location: So. MN, to close to IA | This might be a good time to upgrade to a hydraulic jack. |

| Depending on what kind of jack it is, you can just swap the insides out, if the bearings, lift nut or rod has gotten stripped or damaged, they don't necessarily have to cut the old one off and weld a new one on, they often can take the parts from a new one and just put them in the old jack. I would talk to the repair facility you take it to and see if they think it can be done, it will be half the time, therefore much cheaper since most places charge by the hour. |

| I had a local horse trailer dealer replace mine last fall. Cost around $450 for the jack and labor. |
