Location: Texas | I'm full of random questions today....
Since we have so many horses they are on a shoeing schedule. We can't shoe them all the same day because at least 8-10 (on an average day) work from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Therefore we have never had a problem with soreness after being shod. But, today (first time this has ever happened - hard to believe) my barrel horse was shoed and I was going to exhibition her tomorrow morning. Should I not, because she may be sore or go ahead? I didn't know if anyone gave their horses a day or so off after new shoes. |

Just curious if it would effect her any if I rode her in the morning after getting new shoes this afternoon. The roping horses, kids horses and mine, usually get shod on Mondays, but she was at the vet last Monday and had to get shod with some of the ranch horses today.
ETA: I'm just curious what every else does and either opinion.

But if shes real sore acting I would not ride her for a few days.. I have a gelding that is super thin sole so sometimes he will be a bit tender right after a reset, but good to go the next day are two. |

| When one of ours sored up after getting reshot a couple times, our vet found him to have pretty bad white line disease that for some reason our shoer missed. Each time he did his feet, our horse would be really off from the pressure. It was one front hoof and thankful our vet caught it when he did. We had to cut out and open up nearly 3/4 up his hoof wall. Took a little short of a year for his hoof to grow completely back out. |
