Can anyone tell me their experiences ,solution or maintenance with dealing with equine thumps! I know it's a calcium and electrolyte imbalance! I just would like to know how y'all deal and maintain a horse with thumps! Thank you!

I honestly have only read about it never actually encountered it in real life, hopefully one of the up and coming vet BB's on here will chime in. What I've read says its most common in hard working horses like endurance horses. What does your vet say?

I have had 2 horses with them. They were both on a good feed and I only had problems if I fed an electrolyte or other supplement with a lot of vitamins / minerals with it, which I tried doing for competition the heat. They wound up with thumps every time so instead I opted to wet their feed down and make sure they had access to a plain salt block.

I usually give electrolytes and alfalfa pellets! Been feeding more of it lately. That worked last year for this horse! I might have to cut back on the alfalfa and see if that helps
