I guess this would be a spin off to my previous post about calming supplements... Anyway I've been working my 6 year old mare on and off the pattern for the past two weeks. She's been riding a much quieter and calmer however the past two times I've ridden she's been riding with a REALLY low head set, to the point of her nose dragging the ground. She'll long trot perfectly but she continuously drops her head really low and she doesn't like breaking over into a lope. She doesn't buck but she'll pin her ears and lope maybe 2 small circles and then break back down. At first I thought it was stubbornness but she's been working great otherwise. Very responsive, light, and collected. But the past two rides have been me constantly picking her head up and forcing her into a faster gait. Does this seem like ulcer symptom or should I be researching something else. Thanks again for everyone's advise and help.

"Could Be" ulcers. Not typical symptom though. One thing you could try is some ulcerguard for a few days and see if she rides any different. It works really quick !

I'm leaning towards more of a "Teeth" issue here.

I have some UlcerGard ordered so I plan to treat preventively anyway... I hope it's not a teeth issue because I just had her teeth done last Monday.

I would get an adjustment before I started treating for ulcers. That's just what I would do.

I would vet her vetted, my horse mysteriously started doing this last year, felt something wasn't quite right, after what I thought was just a poped splint so I just gave him a 2 weeks off, went right back to the same behavior. Went to vet, turned out to be fractured in two places but not displaced but it was still buggin him. A friend of mine's horse started doing this due to a sore back, and hocks. He was trying to dump his weitght on his front, to avoid putting pressure in his rear.

She uses her hind end really well though. She does roll backs off the fence, she collects and stops on her rear so I'm not thinking stifle or back. But if I notice her to become front endy, I look into that. Thank you.
