 A Gopher's Worst Nightmare

Location: Southern Oregon | Just realized while digging through my tack rooms today that I need to replace almost all of my bit guards. Who makes the best ones and why do you like em? I was looking at the leather ones that alot of custom tack set people make, but I'm pretty use to using mine with the Velcro on them. |

Location: Utah | I like the velcro ones best. I recently got a couple of pairs of the fancy ones from Running Roan Tack that are really Pretty and have rubber on the inside leather on the outside. |

| Reins man have rubber ones that "click together" around the bit, they are easy to put on and to remove, stay on well, last and are a tight fit |

Location: Winging It in KY | Well, I guess I am just cheap. I wanted bit guards on my bits but was not going to spend the money on the custom ones. I couldn't see spending that kind of money for my horses to just drool on them. So, since I am a repurposing kind of girl, I found an old pair of Professional Choice SMB boots that couldn't be repaired. I made a pattern for the circles, cut them out, then made a slit in them so I could cut out the inside circle. Then I cut up the velcro to fit across the slit and there you have it, a new bit guard. They have worked great and lasted forever. |

That is an awesome idea! |

^ This! Love these. They never fall off like the velcro ones and they are durable. |

| I have a Josey Go Around that I race in, and it came with nice solid bit guards, but I use the el cheepos from tractor supply on all my other bits. I never have problems with them and when a young colt chews on them, they aren't expensive to replace. I have tons at all times in my tack room in black and red. |

These are my favorite! I have a few of the pretty ones from running roan tack but I won't buy them again. They got dingy really fast...too much $$ to spend for them to get that gross |

The bit guards we sell now are backed with rubber, so they're more durable than the leather ones and easy to clean |

Really?? Cool! I got both of mine over two years ago for Christmas. Since you've changed them, I may get a new pair! |

| I love love love my bit guards from Running Roan! The only thing I did once I had them on was trip the tie strap down because it was long and the ends kept getting in my horses mouth. The only for the mouthpiece seems to be the perfect size as well, the neoprene velcro ones always seemed to be to big and then also stretch and widen. |

Location: Southern Oregon | I have been looking at the running roan ones, as well as the reinsman locking bit guards. I think maybe I will just buy a set of each and then see which ones work best for my guys thank you for all of your opinions |
