Location: Texas | Lucy has just been doing so well lately, it's finally looking like I have her running like she was when I first got her.
A few weeks ago she won the 1D at a barrel race with about 130 runners. It was a two day race on the same stakes, and she had the fastest time of the whole weekend. Usually, we always make one mistake around one barrel that costs us time, but this time she truly made as close to perfect as I could get, and we finally won the 1D.
Then I took her to a CPRA rodeo in Navasota a couple weeks ago.. we tipped a barrel but were just out of placing, and lost time on the barrel we hit.
Last night I took her to her first PRCA rodeo since 2012. She ran great, we were clean, and are currently sitting 3rd. I don't know if it will hold but I hope we end up pulling a check, even if it's the last hole in the money. I am just so proud of her.
I think a lot of the problem was my own riding needed improving when I first got her.. not that she was too much horse for me but that I had some growing to do. Now I feel confident on her, she feels healthy again (battled suspensory injury and 2 rounds of EPM), and I feel in control when we run instead of those Oh @#$% moments I know all too well.

Thank you :). I am so blessed though through all of that I got a really pretty filly out of her that I otherwise would not have given her the time to carry a foal. |
