Is there a way to look up all horses bred by a certain person/ranch? And could you narrow down that search to a certain year? Can you search for a horse based off that information, or do you need a name? And if you can look up a horse with this method, could someone help me out that has an AQHA membership?

The horse in question belongs to my best friend, and supposedly came off of the Cross Bell Ranch/Mullendore Cross Bell Ranch of OK (she carries their brand.) She was born in either 2006 or 2007, & is a mare. We were also told that they don't sell their horses? Can anyone verify this info? I'm sure it's a long shot of figuring this all out without a registered name, but figured it was worth a shot.

Thanks in advance!

You can use your aqha number and get a list on the net of all the horses that are currently registered to you.

Since you know several things ... call the ranch brand and describe the mare in detail and they might remember the only one they ever sold ...

When you buy a grade horse that was possibly registered previously ... there is always
a bad reason why the papers are not with the horse ...
and listening to the auctioneer and horse trader at a little sale is like listening to Obama ...

Unfortunately I don't have an AQHA account or I would look it up myself.

I've done some deeper search and I found some more horses (including a well known reining stud) who came off the ranch..so I'm assuming the previous seller said that to make the horse seem "better." (She is a very nice horse!)

She does carry the brand of the ranch, so it's probable that she could have came from there, but I agree a shot at finding her papers without a registered name are slim. Supposedly the horse was sold to a ranch hand, but not with the papers for whatever reason...seems fishy enough but it's worth trying to figure out, IMO.

I've known trainers that will sell a registered horse as grade if the client stiffs them on training/boarding fees.  I have a friend that has done that several times after trying to get her money from owner...ends up selling the horse as grade to recoup, and has sold some very nice ones that way.  Also, I've never understood it, but I see ads for horses that offer the horse for two prices...a lower price without the papers and a higher price to get the papers too...drives me CRAZY!!!  that's one reason why horses end up not having the papers.  Of course, there's a lot of people who like to lose the papers, so the paper trail is lost...kinda like having Car Fax...too much info on the horse can mess up a sell if you are able to call past owners to find out stuff about the horse.

Do you know the name of the stallion the mare was possibly by?
