My husband has suggested we go to Cheyenne for the rodeo next month & I'm super excited. I've never seen that part of the country. We want to get tickets, but I'm not sure which section is best for watching all the action- especially barrel racing. Any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!

 We like the east stands for the rodeo (and barrel racing), they are on the inside of the track and above the bucking chutes. Unless they change it the ladies come in from the north end and the barrels are setup on that half (approx) of the arena.  The roping chutes are at the south end, it is a big arena, maybe 600 feet long.  There are several entertainment events on the track over by the west stands. They have cool parades in downtown maybe 4 days over the rodeo run.  It is a great rodeo, you will have a blast!

We have hit this place the last couple of years for a good steak, out of the rush of Cheyenne;

 Thank you Paysonw! That's just the info I was looking for. My husband suggested that we drive over to Laramie too just to see the sights.

 Yep, east stands more towards the north for barrels.

If you chose to sit over the bucking chutes...make sure you have plenty of sun screen, and its hot over there.  We are over 6500 feet in elevation and it doesn't take long to fry up here.

 Ok so hubs got the tickets bought today & they are lower deck East side (hopefully some shade?) but on the south side of the bucking chutes (roping end), which is ok. I'm excited! Now, we will have some time to kill in Laramie, any sights to see?

hope you have a great time!  Look for 3 teenage boys handling a mare and colt during the Dinner Bell Derby.  Snickers and Annie will be making the trip to town every day
