| Abscesses are popping all over the place here in Texas thanks to all this dang wrt weather. Have you checked for a pulse in that foot? You will be able to feel it on the side the abcess is on. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I appreciate the insights everyone and yes, hoping if it is navicular that we will have caught it early enough that we can do maintenance and keep him sound. He still has no swelling anywhere, trotting straight line across pasture looking good, but sore in a tight arc if he turns and immediately moves off sound after. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Lameness exam found my gelding sound in the straight away both on hard and soft ground, slightly off in the right fore in circles to the right . Passed flexion tests in fetlock and knee. Blocked right front, showed mild lameness in left. Bilateral radiographs taken of both front feet, very mild navicular changes. Shoeing recommendation is no wedges at this time but go to a softer style pad and booting him of on hard ground. |

| Sorry for this diagnosis, but kudos to you for being proactive - hopefully it's early, and you can maintain him and really extend his useful life.
I definitely agree that shoeing and aspirin made the biggest difference in my big horse.

Location: 31 lengths farms | And this is why I love my farrier!!! I'm flat broke after the kid's vet apt. on Friday, though I can't complain about the $671 for a scope of CC's bladder, a full lameness exam and extensive digital x-rays for Tucker (another reason I love UCD, I can semi-afford to take care of my horses properly) but I was going to have to leave Tucker in his Old Mac's for a few weeks until I get paid again. Farrier called this morning to find out what the x-rays showed, when I told him that I couldnt' afford to get Tucker re-shod right now Travis says "just pay me when you get paid, there is no reason for him to stand around waiting. I'd rather I wait to get paid than him wait to get shod even with boots" Lucky to be surrounded by kind people. |
