Pedigree first because that catches my eye. I'm still fairly young and haven't been on a ton of horses, so I am still trying different things to see what I like. So far, I end up liking running bred horses. Breeding wise, I've been breeding to barrel stallions to my running bred mares.

Conformation- I want low set hocks with good angles, medium length pasterns that are thick with not too much bend in the fetlock. I want a proportional horse with a sloping shoulder and a round hip. I will take a bit longer back if they have a long angled shoulder and a deep heart girth. I want kind eyes and a curious personality.

I like horses with fairly mild dispositions. I will take a hotter horse over a dead head any day. I can calm one down but can't always fire one up.

color- When I breed my mares I pick stallions that have the whole package for me...So I've bred to my favorite sons of FG, DTF, and picked ones that were colorful even though that was last on my list. But it's always fun to see what you might get when they are born. But color is WAY down on my list. It's a fun part on my list, but it's way down there.

First thing I look at is the name of the horse ...

I strongly believe that horses, dogs and people live up to their names ...
Name one Killer and see what you get in the long term ... lol

I try not to buy a horse with the breeder//owner initials in the horses name ...
I think the personality of those initials come with the horse ..
lol
