This is a bad time of the year for flying. You will have to have someone on the other end be willing to put the dog on a plane before daylight so it can arrive in TX before it gets hot. They go by the hourly forecast on the weather.com page. I used American Airlines. They have a page with the rules. You will also have to have health certificate.

What Tia said. We've had a few dogs shipped to us since we moved to Texas. Delta and American. They come in where the orange buildings are along the frontage road off of 281. Three years ago it cost $325.00 from Baton Rouge to San Antonio.

Here's a pet flight service that you might be interested in using.

You will probably have to use United airlines. It's to hot in Texas to use anyone else. You need a crate that' the dog can stand up and turn around in comfortably with about 3 inches of headroom. Put shredded paper in the bottom of the carrier and yes you have to have a health certificate within 10 days of shipping. If older than 12 weeks it will also have to have a rabies vaccination.

We just had one shipped about a month ago. Continental Airlines. They ship them in a temperature controlled cargo. My dog arrived in excellent shape from MN to Tn cost around $350 I think. She is a medium sized adult dog.

I wouldnt trust many people to haul my dog cross country for the fact that the dog doesn't know them and what if they got away from them? Not going to take that chance lol

Thanks so much for all of your wisdom. I did the FB stuff and no one has answered in the 5 day period. I have several friends that long haul but the owner didn't think she would tolerate the inside cab. She's a true ranch dog. I feel terrible putting her on a plane but as a last resort I may do just that. NTO and KMCS I'm very worried about her in the heat! She's come from Australian stock, they breed them pretty hardy there, but the TX heat has me scared as far as her flying in. The current owner prefers a pickup and crate ride for her.
Looking at the weather I see cooler temps with the rain but what if she gets rain delayed? Ugh. I just need to get goats worked and she's the ticket to that happening!

I really would call and ask about the climate control. It was 88 here when my dog arrived and she had been inside in air conditioning the entire time.

Looks like he will meet me in your state. Takes a little drive time off for me. Just not worth the worry with a grown dog.

There are companies that haul dogs just as professional hauling compaines move horses. I had a rescue dog sent from Oregon to CO. Easy peasy and they delivered him to my door step. A young male BC who trusted no one when he came. Airlines have killed dogs and had them get out of crates and run off the tarmac.
Unless you have your hands on the dog you are always taking a chance.
