Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | 2.5 years ago I was sharing the story of my Streakin Six gelding with the fractured face. It is still an ongoing issue and not healed yet. He's doing great, just still has an active open hole on the side of his face that keeps doing strange things. And the culprit, Frankenstein, is still being himself, though he is now best buds with the horse whose face he fractured.
So how ironic is it that the meanest horse in the barn is also the kindest to the youngest horse....

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | It amazes me how often a hateful gelding will play the nanny to a baby. And let them get away with murder until they're about 2. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | It's ridiculous. This SOB is by far the most viscous horse I have ever been around. He isn't just mean. He will savage another horse if you let him. The few times he broke down doors or gates to go after another horse, the only way to physically stop him from chasing down and trying to kill the other horse was to get in between them. His only saving grace is that he is the absolute kindest and most gentle around humans. He is very respectful, controllable, and safe. He is my go to for kids and letting city people meet a horse. We have learned how to also control him and the settings around the barn to keep everyone safe.
But now with the baby....poor Frankie can't even go out to his pasture while the baby is awake. If he gets too far away, Jack starts screaming for him to come back, and Frankie obliges. Insane....absolutely insane.....

| I had one of those geldings too! He destroyed pens and shelters and would fight with just about everyone. He was a jerk!!! But he was amazing with most people and children. He always loved my male shoers, tolerated my male vets and chiro but he did not care for my dad and once bit a cop that got too close to his pen. But you could dang sure count on him to babysit any child I sat on him. He would tolerate the dad of one of the youngsters when she was on him but if she wasn't, I'd have to watch him pretty closely. His nephew is getting to be the same way. He is HORRID to my other colt but is the sweetest little lap dog to people. He literally follows me around like a dog and is fairly un-phased by scary things if I have him. He even tolerates my mom's cat and all the dogs coming in his pen, but does not want any other horses living close enough to him. Boys are jerks lol! |

I have a mare like that. Tries to rip all my other mares to shreds, but she adores my 2 yo gelding. Let's him get away with murder. SMH |
