Jenbabe - 2015-07-17 11:11 AM Just got my Speedhorse and saw Triple Vodka mentioned. Sounds like he's got some good bone and passes it on. He's my first choice for my Chasin Firewater that is pretty refined if I decide to breed her.

Your Desirio has nice bone on him!

Well, she's his half sister so I suppose I better not breed her to him! If I felt more comfortable with line breeding (well, that's probably considered inbreeding!) I might try it, but most people frown on those kind of crosses!

To the OP, my Desirio also has excellent bone. But I've never seen him in person or very many of his foals, so I can't say if that's typical of his offspring or if he got that substance from his momma.

LRQHS - 2015-07-17 10:44 AM Easy Jet, Splash Bac.....I understand. I'd look at stallions related to the above. Shawne bug leo, streaking ta fame, Heza Fast Dash, etc.

Streaking Ta Fame just had his first winner on the track too last week.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Triple Vodka really is beautiful and will definitely be on my list of contenders. I am looking for a stud fee under 5k including all fees so most of the suggestions are right in my ball park. As for Leaving Memories, he has always been one of my favorites but I thought his stud fee would be untouchable. Anyone know why his stud fee is so low?

I bred a mare to Leaving Memories a couple years ago when they reduced his stud fee. The breeding farm was great to work with. That colt has good bone as well, was easy to start under saddle, and has a lot of stamina. I've looked at a lot of First Down Dash sons to breed to, and like my comment about DTF, from how they've performed and produced I think they will hold up as well.

We have a TRIPLE VODKA filly out of a AAA daughter of LEAVING MEMORIES consigned to the Louisiana Yearling Sale Aug 7-8 at Kinder, LA Coushatta
lol..  we have bred mares to Leaving Memories before.....it is best if you take your mare to the farm and JEH was very reasonable to deal with on mare care etc....wish we would have realized that before we shipped twice on 2 mares....nailed them the first time at the JEH farm....he is getting up there in age

Captain Courage x Mr Jessica Perry is nice. We have a filly by him and she is stout. Check out Specially Alluring as well he's by FDD up and coming. He's short coupled, good feet and bone. produces nice babies. Our 3 yr old by him has won over 17k this year. I REALLY love an Ivory James and mine has good bone and feet but I've also seen smaller bones on some. Not to mention they are incredibly smart and talented

Not that you're looking APHA, but Judys Lineage progeny definitely have large bone. No joke, I've been asked multiple times if my grandson (out of a refined QH mare) is part draft...

We've had lots of luck with the Mr Jess Perry son, Jess Special. Proven producer on the track and in the barrel pen, plus one of cheapest sons of MJP. $1,500

That would be my fantasy cross. A Chasin Firewater daughter on Triple Vodka. I love that stud! I'm the self proclaimed president of his fan club! LOL

Rare News (by FDD) has really impressive bone to him.  And a shoulder that is to die for!  He's a really stout made horse.

You were probably the person that put the idea in my head! It was a BB that mentioned the cross, so I looked closer and decided that would be the way to go with her. She needs overall size and substance, and I just hadn't found the one I thought would be a good cross. All of the FWF sons were out, and I felt like I needed to add some speed to her as well so was looking at run. Plus I love his tail female line. I used to have a daughter of Sweet Game, and now have two of her daughters. Actually, I shouldn't just say I love the tail female line, his entire dam's side is fantastic! I guess I better get in gear and breed her before his stud fee goes up!

Just look at the racing win records of stallions and that will tell you if they
have good feet and legs or not ...
and then look at winning progeny to see if they carry it over onto their foals ..

I really like what Pappasito has been siring. The 2 year old I bought is as nice looking of a horse as you could ever find. Very smart and personable too. Beautiful feet and legs on her also.
