Holy Mackerel.............
I just paid $8.50 a bale for premo alfalfa. Probably around 60 lb. bales.

I'm thankful to live in the North country where we grow beautiful prairie and alfalfa hay and put it up myself. I'm waiting for the dew to come off a little right now and heading out to make a few more idiot blocks.

I was just quoted $15 for a 2 strand bale here in OKC. Not the greatest quality. I will stick with feeding alfalfa pellets for $8.99/50lb bag

I charge $6 for 50# square bale. I don't care if I sell it bc I will feed it. It's roundup ready and expensive to establish and maintain. I had to round bale some alfalfa do to the wonderful resistant pigweed
(thank goodness it was not headed out
) for $50 4x5 round bale..
We are actually tearing it up this fall and going to all grass
(orchard, Timothy and rye grass
) for a couple years so we can stay ahead of the weeds and get the water drainage issue resolved. It's a terrible problem and we have chopped and sprayed and I'm tired of only having 5 clean acres out of what started out as 17.. Not worth the battle.

Oh man! Another reason why I love living up north. I could never afford to own horses down south. Alalfa is anywhere from $4-$7 for a 55-70lb bale.
Most southerners don't feed alfalfa. Problem solved.
