I bought a weanling that has not been vaccinated or wormed ever. What is the best way to start him out? He had been out in the pasture all of his life but recently had been brought in to a lot with other colts for weaning.

Nothing really, just vaccinate him and worm him like normal.

Just worm and vaccinate. I do worm with safegaurd or panacur first if they haven't been wormed in a while.

Thanks for the replies, I was planning on starting with a Panacur and getting him on a regular schedule for his shots. I just wanted a double check :)

safeguard is good. We keep the mares dewormed but when we wean, I wait until they are halter broke to deworm the babies. We usually do Ivermectin I guess. We don't vaccinate until they are sent off to be started or hauled away from home. I've had a few reactions here and there. I have never had one sick that wasn't vaccinated so I'm on the fence there.

I just vaccinate for tetanus and rabies until they are going to be hauled as well. We've had more rabid skunks, coyotes, and cats in the last few years so I always worry about my animals!

those are very good actually. It's the 4 or 5 way that I have had issues with. The boys get a tetnus when they get castrated actually.
