Location: Adopt a homeless pet - www.petfinder.com! | Non-profit's can't sell "advertising". Â They can only offer "acknowledgements" for sponsorship dollars/in-kind donations. Â Acknowledgements can be supplied by the sponsor but can only contain things like name, contact info, logo, slogan, and like info. Â Anything else can be construed as advertising by the IRS and make that income taxable. Â It's called UBIT by the IRS - unrelated business income tax. Â
Edited to add: I have worked for a national health non-profit for 15 years and this is something that comes down from our national office. We have to supply them with printed programs, etc., of our events each year to make sure we're in compliance. I'm one of the people in our field office that deals with working with the sponsors to create these "acknowledgements".

| Wow that is disappointing. I want to make sure that doesn't happen to anyone else. Can you email me at [email protected] and let me know how you called to arrange a donation? We have special tours and outreach for children's donations. I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Please give me a chance to rectify that situation. |

| We do have a lot of regulations that we have to follow and the list is growing. Of course, we have to make sure we DO stay in compliance as the reputation of St. Jude has to be protected. It would be nice if we could just focus on the kids. |

Location: SE Missouri | I like the facebook page. I do think it would create more buzz if you could post a list of the current items in the auction and current bid. A lot of people will not sign up for bidding if they don't know the ranges things are going for. Or at the very least what all is in the auction. Something a little more consolidated and updated. You all have some very nice stallions in the auction! |

Mega charity? You do realize that St Judes is a hospital for kids with cancer.....they don't charge the families that can't afford it. They help as many kids as they can. I'm pretty certain that there is never enough money to go around to all the kids that need it no matter how much is raised. Every day there are new kids diagnosed with cancer.......it's never enough. And I am hoping that somehow the kids will be able to get involved with the barrel races. Sure beats staring at hospital walls.....

Location: Depends where the next barrel race is..... | Pcsss5 - 2015-08-07 7:24 PM thank you. We are working on BBR sanctioning. Ross Wright is helping on that. We have to decide if it's worth it to pay for WPRA sanctioning -- that's $325.
WPRA approval for jackpots is only $25. |

| The Myers Ranch just donated a breeding to A SMOOTH GUY. They are such nice people! Frenchman's Guy will be 28 so this is the next best thing. He is a gorgeous buckskin. So very grateful to them! |

| Need to ask you guys one more question -- we give incentives to fundraisers to help raise money. We are giving nice Shea Michelle Fisher buckles for people who raise $1000. We need an incentive for people who raise $5000. We put on a show in Memphis back in February (for the benefit of St. Jude, it wasn't St. Jude actually producing the show), and we awarded Pro-Rider saddles to 3 girls who raised $5000 each.
I want to do something different this time. Trophy saddles don't always get used, they are expensive, you have to wait to get them, etc. If we could get someone to help us secure Pony Plates (smaller version of Theraplate), do you think that would be a good incentive for fundraisers? Any ideas as to what barrel racers would really work hard to get?
We have some generous donors willing to help us out with incentives.
Thanks for any suggestions on prizes that would make you want to get out and hustle for the kids. |
