My good 4 year old mare was just diagnosed with sesamoid ligament strain in both feet. She was diagnosed by a MRI. Anyone have any history with this injury? Time frame to recover, alternative therapies?

Okay. Well, I've been there. I'll list off the things that I did. My mare came back beautifully from the injury.
1. Stem cell.
2. Followed vet directions to the letter, then incorporated water treadmill.
3. Laid off for a full year, did not return to work until had vet okay after ultrasound.
4. Found a really good farrier, that reviewed xrays, full analysis of hoof angles. Corrective shoeing and fixed angles.
5. Brought back extremely slowly, ultrasounding as we went.
6. Made a fast run, went and ultrasounded.
7. Stayed with a good, good farrier. Stay out of heavy, nasty ground.
Also, some people shockwave that area with success, but I didn't follow that therapy.

Yes. Stall rest, magnets and proper supportive shoeing.

Thank you. The vet didn't recommend stem cell, said her wasn't bad enough. She will be doing shockwave therapy and off for 6 weeks. Then they want to ultrasound her and go from there.
