I understand the need for slaughter, I really do.....but I will never believe anyone that truly loves horses is involved in the industry. They're in it only for profit and this guy is a POS.

This, 100 times over. We see his trucks go thru Lake Village all the time, crammed with horses. I always have to turn my head and try not to cry. As you said, it's hard to believe anyone who cares about horses at all can be doing what the Stanleys do. So many people who get down on their luck and have to sell their horses around here get a friendly visit from the Stanleys soon as the word gets out. . . (We were going to work one morning and one of their trucks was broken down on the side of the road. The trailer was empty thank goodness, and two men were sitting outside. Lord forgive me, but all I could think was that it simply could not have happened to better people.)

I wouldn't necessary say he's a POS because that's how he chooses to make his living... unfortunately there has to be someone that does it. We all want to say we don't oppose slaughter and we will drop a horse off at the sale barn if we deem the horse unsafe, unsound, etc. but then it's not necessary right of us to then demonize the person that actually ships them to the slaughter house. As far as his video goes..... he won't follow through, he can make twice the amount of money selling those horses to the bleeding hearts than loading them on a truck, and I highly doubt he'll pass that up.... His attempt at public shaming, or what ever it was he was attempting, was a complete FAIL!

Truth right there.

I can't do it... I'll put them down first (I've done it before and I'll do it again).  I'd rather be out a few hundred than not be able to sleep at night.

Same here, I have always been lucky to live where I could just shoot them and drag them off to the back forty. Sometimes I feel bad that they don't get a proper burial but it is better than not knowing if they suffered on the tripto Mexico or not.

It just looks like what he is doing doesn't HAVE to be done. It made me sad to think he will send nice horses to slaughter, without even offering them a chance at life. He is throwing a tantrum, callously sacrificing living animals because some people made him mad and just because he can. The horses are caught in the middle.

I know it is sometimes necessary. I'm not knocking slaughter, in general. And some people will say that it doesn't matter if a person has good intentions or not when they participate in it. That's another topic and I'm sure it could be argued for pages! I just hate it that people like that exist. Wish I could un-see it.

Now this guy sounds Harvard educated...right there!

He's a very vengeful, vengeful man and although kill buyers are a neccessary evil, it's these horses that will lose in the end.  Very sad.

Its an excellent video, if you watched all of it.  People in other country's eat the horses they can't afford beef.  Why would anyone be concerned about recyling horses instead of being buried in the ground.

slaughter is just like the septic pump guy!  nobody likes doing the job but someone needs to do it!

Not nearly the same in my opinion---these are living, breathing, FEELING beings that deserve respect and compassion even at the end. This man has neither towards them.

Look I understand what he is saying. The fact is race horses come through kill pen and there are activists that think they should be free, instead of being willing to buy them. They also go online and look up a horses connections and call and harass them, via email, phone call or what ever and threaten them and some even make death threats.

This guy is saying no more rehoming race horses and probably papered horses due to this harassment. I don't blame him. The fact is any horse you ever sell or give away could end up in the kill pen. How would you feel if one of yours did and then these "activists" start calling you up and making threats and then bad mouth you and try to bring down your business? What if that horse you sold had been through several owners. Even if you buy your horse out of the pen, the abuse contiues and the fact is there is no talking any logic to them. I've watched it time and time again. I don't blame him for his choice to not offer certain horses to the public.

ETA: his video may have only mentioned two ladies but it is really two ladies and thousands of internet followers.

Seriously?

You must be a vegetarian then

Cows and pigs are living breathing feeling animals and far less objection over meat processing of these animals compared to horses

From my understanding horse meat is more expensive? Maybe I am wrong or maybe it depends on the country but I had always read that horse meat was more expensive.

Temper tantrum on tape.  But sadly some of these activists make things so much worse even though their hearts are in the right place.  I have a cute yearling I got from this place.  Hopefully she can be turned around and given a chance to have a life.  This guy is a business man through and through.  He makes more by selling these horses than shipping them down there, so I do wonder if he'll stand by his threat in the long term, but who knows, the small amount extra $ he'd make off of the TB's may not be worth the drama he gets from the activists.  He's taking loads of them every week regardless of what's on board, sound, crippled, young, old, ponies, preg mares, and yes TB's...doesn't really matter to the shippers as long as they can make weight.  But sadly, it is a business.  I do hate the whole scenario though - wish they'd bring slaughter back to the states to at least mitigate some of the horrors.

Lol that dude is full of crap.
And yes times are hard in Mexico.
He's making a living. And not feeding those folks.
And mex is a by blow kill station to get the meat to Europe.
Now there are kill pen sale sites on fb.
We aren't going to stop the kill buyers.
It's just a shame we didn't have the descency to set up proper laws and strict guidelines here in the good old USA so these poor animals didn't have to get drug across the country for hours and hours and day upon day on a trailer to a foreign country to be killed without the laws n guidelines.
So this says a lot for the powers at be.
