Location: Alabama | For all of you that are on the road often, what types of portable pens do you use?
Electric, pop up panels, affordable portables ect?
Alot of the rodeos i attend do not have stalls and i don't like leaving them standing ties to the trailer if i don't have too.
I'm not a fan of those extendable arms on the trailer cause my "geniuses" will hurt them selves wondering around ties...
with the PVC light portables, Do your horses push and move them?
With the electric my horses aren't accustom to them, would they freak after they got shocked? Like run off in a panic?

Location: WI | I do an electric fence, but he has that at home too. They might jump, but don't think one would run off. Who knows, though! I would like to get a set of the Carri-Lite panels, they have a hefty price tag though! |

| A friend of mine uses the light pvc type ones. You do need to tie them so something statinary (the trailer) but if they were to push on them, they will move and could break. They look sturdy so if you have a horse that is respctful of fences, they work well but if they push on them, I wouldnt trust them.
I personally just have regular panels that I put on the side of my trailer for overnight races. They work pretty well cuz I cant afford the expensive portable ones. They are also sturdy but kinda a paint to transport and setup alone. |

Location: North Dakota -> Colorado | I either use the short cattle panel fences if I have room to haul them, or on most occasions I will use the electric pens. Easy to set up and condenses down to a small amount of space in the trailer! |

I **Think** it's a full set. I think they come in sets of 8 panels, because we ended up ordering a 9th one to make a 2 panel by 1.5 panel set of 2 pens. 2 from trailer out, and then 3 across the back split in 2.

Location: PNW | I have Travel N Corrals. They attach together with a sturdy pin and are all aluminum. I don't like the ones that only Velcro together, just doesn't seem sturdy enough to me. My gelding would bust through those just trying to scratch his butt on them. |

Location: Arkansas | Electric fence is what we use for overnights. Our 5 live in 35 acres of electric fence so they're very used to and respectful of it. However, I think if you introduced your horses to it at home where things are safe and give them time to get used to it there would be no problems. Our last horse purchased was in barbwire before we got him, and when he touched the electric fence the first time or two he "startled" and backed up a step or two but there was no bolt or mad dash for the back forty!!

Location: MD | Depending on where I am going and which horses are on the trailer, I use both electric tape pens and the portable panels. Most of my guys are good with the electric. I do prefer to take the panels, but with certain horses, or if I'm hauling a full load, they just aren't an option. I dislike PVC panels after having seen far too many horses break them repeatedly. |

I use portable panels if I'm going to be somewhere for a few days and HyTies if it's just an overnight or short time. When I was going to several rodeos a weekend the HyTies were AWESOME because I didn't have to mess with moving panels around.
