Yeah I am not going to take her to just anyone. The U of M has a lot of experience with this type of issue so I trust them to do a good job. |

| My vet, also does my dental. She had one knocked out and floating his teeth. He had a tusk that was infected. Started talking surgery, and sending him out. I got a pair of slip joint pliers out, and pulled it. |

At the time I was fighting some other issues with him and didn't have the money to do it right away. They said it was fine to leave it be and to schedule something in the next couple months. I waited a few weeks and then had it done.
My vet said it would be fine to finish up my runs this fall as well as long as she is comfortable. She has one more shot of Exceed for this round of antibiotics and then I just have to watch for any other signs returning. I have a couple big runs in October I have been looking forward to all year that I would love to enter but her health is more important. So I am wondering if I should wait until November to schedule something because then the flies would be done with by then as well because right now they are horrible. But I also don't want to risk it getting worse. She currently is happy, eats, drinks, no temp, doesn't seem to be noticeably bothered by it.
They told me as long as they are eating, drinking, and don't show signs of discomfort it was fine to leave it. They acted like it was no big deal, just something we needed to take care of in the future. I think if the vets tell you she will be fine to finish out the year, then I would trust them and keep an eye on it, but that's me!
Mine also has a heart murmur, so I hurried and had it removed because I didn't want the tooth effecting his heart and making it worse. I've had several people tell me that they could be related. When I take him back for another EKG we'll really see if they are! |

Thank you for your replies. My vet did mention possibly putting her on a crumble to keep the infection down once she is done with her Exceed treatment. I am so torn on what to do. I have been looking forward to these runs all year but I also just want her fixed so I can feel a little relief and can stop worrying about her. She seems completely healthy right now though. The Exceed has seemed to clear up her nose discharge quite well. I think I will give my vet one more call to talk about my options some more and if she truly feels she will be fine to hold out for another month. |

Well that is what my vet mentioned too. That being on antibiotics for awhile would be helpful before removing it.
