Expert Posts: 3147	Labs in Australia are close to developing a test for formaldehyde. Some idiots in the racing industry are using it in the mistaken belief it helps bleeders. It isn't known how widespread its use is. It is a carcinogen, too! Formaldehyde has been used sparingly to stop acute hemorrhaging in people (surgeries) but there is no proof that it controls bleeding in the lungs. It can also cause serious reactions.

Namesless in BHW Posts: 10368 Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs	There were reports a few years ago about some trainers in Louisiana running their horses on it, took about 2 races and they were done, not as in dead, but not able to race again.
