Aloe Vera juice? Does this soothe already existing ulcers? What are some other easy things to help soothe a horses stomach?

I honestly think aloe is useless.

Papaya purΓ©e there are studies that have proven it can actually heal ulcers, it also thickens the mucosal lining in the stomach. They say it is safe to use daily, but have not been able to find any long term studies relating to absorption.

Green clay I have used on hind gut ulcers (suspected, not confirmed by vet) and had good results.

They say that bentonite clay is actually better then green clay (sorry can't remember where I read this). The company that makes Redmond salt has a clay powder for ulcers

Also milk of magnesia or something along the way would be good to use 20 min before saddling and 20 min before running. The last lecture I attended said this is the way to go once the ulcers have been resolved, you give 30-60ml each time. This has less long term effects then daily omeprazole.

I tried everything but the only thing that has cured the issue was Gastroguard.  It was worth every penny.  He is not the same horse.

im sure aloe vera helps to some degree but not enough if there is an existing problem- and if its hind gut its a whole different ball game! each horse is different I have tried several ulcer supps and really nothing ever helped more than 10 days or so until I tried succeed and it maid a big difference for my boy ( hind gut)I have him on cabbage powder aloe vera juice and slippery elm bark powder - I can really tell if I run out of cabbage powder - u can buy it on bulk foods 1/4 c cabbage powder 2tbs slippery elm and 1/4 c aloe vera with each feeding beet pulp soaked also helps a lot and make sure your feed has no corn or oats in it I personally like bluebonnet ex-factor - hope this helps ulcers can be tough and sometimes you just have to play with a few things to figure out what works for your horse - and I still give him a scoop of succeed every day

He stays on the all the time.
