| The heat and humidity are on the rise where I am so I was just curious as to what some of you might be wearing to ride in other than jeans during the summer. I was considering some of the bootcut breeches (maybe Kerrits Ice Fil Breeches) but they are pretty pricey so I wanted to make sure the difference between them and jeans were worth the cost. These would be mainly during lessons so just riding bareback, shorts, etc. would not work. Thanks! |

| Well, if you want an interesting tan pattern, you can adopt the shorts and tennis shoes habit as I have.
On a more serious note, if you really want pants, I love Cabella's women's pants. They come in 4 or 5 different colors and have the side pockets which are handy for packing your cell phone.
For a less expensive route, check the khaki, carpenter type men's pants in Walmart. I'm a size 8 lady, and the 29" or 30" waist men's pants fit pretty decent. |

Location: CTX | When just excersizing I use capri's from Walmart. Cheap and a lot cooler. I do need to wear knee high socks though or I get chaffing spots on my legs. But it still is a lot more comfortable than jeans. I know a lot of girls here ride in shorts, but I can't do it... because of the chaffing....
I have a pair of the Wrangler Cool Vantage, but I change into shorts as soon as I get done running so can't really say they are that much cooler since I'm not in them very long. Will have to look at the cotton cargo pants for running in stead of jeans for the long hot summers! |

| I have been wearing shorts more often than not to ride in. But I do get chafing and rubs on the lower part of my legs so I have a saddle cover to use when wearing shorts. I also have a few pairs of yoga pants and a pair of Kerrits ice fill breeches that I wear. Needless to say I have some crazy tan lines lol! The breeches are nice if you don't mind spending a little bit more money. But overall I'd go with yoga pants, much cheaper and they hold up pretty good |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Exercise pants. I don't know what they're really called - they aren't what I consider yoga pants. They're like exercise tights I guess. I rode in them once when it was really hot and didn't mind them. Wasn't slippery either. |

I bought some of the Cool Vantage Wrangler's for my husband and he loves them so I bought a pair online in the woman's Baby Q and the material is totally different and I was very disappointed in them. I had tried a pair on last year and the material was the same as my husband's but I was too cheap to pay $69.00 so I waited until I found them on sale online. I need to call Wrangler and find out why the ones I bought are different. |

Location: on my horse | I wear a lot of leggings, my favorites are the $7.99 ones off Sam Moon. They are super soft and thin but not too thin to show things when you bend over etc. and hold up really well. I have a pair that I've worn every summer to ride in now for like three years and they just now have a small hole on one leg but I think I snagged them on the fence or something. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Think about it: If you are shaded from the sun you are cooler. When you switch to shorts, the sun bears down and ups your core temp. If you shade your body with pants it will keep you cooler. Same as with your arms.
I wear jeans and an old thin wrangler denim shirt with a white Tshirt underneath. You literally sweat through your Tshirt and never sweat again. The denim keeps the T shirt shaded from the sun and the air flow hitting the Tshirt under the denim cools you down while the denim shades your skin from the hot sun.
If you are completely opposed to that idea try some cargo pants in WHITE. They're to coolest cargo pant. Dickies has them on sale all the time. They're $20 if that at walmart.
If you want to try the denim shirt thing, go to your nearest Goodwill and find a well wron denim shirt by wrangler. It will be thinner and will work wonders.

| I ride in yoga pants from Old Navy...They are light and not super thick, just enough. I feel very free in them but I'm sure it doesn't look classy, I tuck them into my boots. They don't stick to you and I believe I only paid $20 and I've had them for 3 years. I have a few different pairs but I love the long flare ones. I like Ariat Jeans as well, but that might be a little too thick for some. |

Same here. I like the compression type just bc they're more flattering lol. But I have several brands, although the Walmart AVIA brand for $15 is hard to beat. Stylish for the gym (yes, I like to be cute haha), mesh panels for airflow, and they have decent compression. And NOT see through. |

I'll say for public when I need to wear jeans, I really like the Cool Vantage. I'm a sweater and my waistband will be soaked when it's hot out, and then my jeans grow a size and get saggy. Not these, I don't sweat near as bad, and they stay tight all day long. |
