| 14 yr old finished barrel horse. He had a year off due to injury. He came back nicely, but second run I felt him "push" coming out of the first barrel, I tried to move him over while finishing the barrel to be lined up for second, and he pushed against me, not wanting to, but second stride finally moved over, third was fine. Third run, I made a point to really finish the barrel strong, and get him shaped for second ahead of time, he totally resisted and pushed against me, to the point where I had to dig a spur into him, so he would move over last minute, and he kicked up his back heel, *very high* as I made him move over. Our last run this weekend, he felt way better, finished first tight, were lined up for second, and halfway to the barrel he got stiff and started drifting left, we were directly in line with second barrel, and he would not move over, last minute he just kind of drifted another step and came on the wrong side of the barrel. Note: When I ask a horse to move over for me, I tip their nose the opposite of the way I ask them to go, I tip left and use left leg to move right, even when running. We took him right to chiro, and he had a hip up, 3 withers, 2 vertebrate, poll, and three places in his neck! Now he is a lot looser, but I haven't made a run on him yet. From my description does it sound like chiro? | |

| What was the injury, how was it diagnosed, and how was it treated?
If the palpating and flexion tests are good, then
I will adjust a horse once, and have them rechecked in a week or two if they keep going out in the same spot, then I go to the vet.
If my horse reacts to palpation or flexion the vet is the first place I go

Location: Tulsa, Ok | I would suspect stifles and/or hocks. Definitely a lameness exam is in order.

Location: the end of the rainbow | I know a horse that will resist or duck the 2nd barrel if he is out in the shoulder.

| If he was out in that many places I would have him rechecked and give him the chance to make a good clean run.
However if he is out again within a week or 2 I would suspect there's compensation going on for him to keep going out - in the rear end, hocks/stifles etc most likely.
