I have an awesome Caldwell Pro Max that is the most comfortable saddle ever.  When i look at my pictures around the barrels, i am consistanly on my toes and i lean which makes me bring my hand up.  Would a treeless help me stay on my pockets better, thus helping the other issues?  I am not looking for a quick fix but i want to help my mare.  She is a solid horse and i want to stop my bad habits!  TIA!!

I absolutely loved my ProMax.....until I made a run in my daughter's Allen Ranch.  I sold the Caldwell the next day.  The Allen Ranch put me right where I needed to be and I wasn't fighting to stay up and in position.

I went from a treeless to a Caldwell. The treeless made me lean way too far forward. The Caldwell helped me sit back.

Maybe you need a bigger seat? I have also had that problem being forward when my seat was too small.

I'd suggest a larger seat and a slightly shorter stirrup so that you can really sink your weight into your heels to give you a solid seat.

You may be one who needs her stirrups in front of her.

You can try tying your fenders forward and see if that helps you. You may also need to lengthen your stirrups, too short of stirrups may be trying to catepolt you out of the saddle.

If you can try a Martha josey saddle, I suggest trying one, it may fit your style better

Your stirrups look too short, but your seat size looks fine. A good rule of thumb to start with would be to adjust your stirrup so that your ankle bone hits the bottom of the stirrup, see how that feels and then adjust up or down from there depending on your leg position and comfort.

Your stirrups do look to short.........I would start there if you like your saddle.........as for the treeless I do feel you sit deeper in one.......I love mine.

When I ride with my trainer, she emphasizes that I keep my legs in line with my hips.
It helps keep your balance way better, I notice a huge change in my riding.
Drop your stirrups a hole or two and before you take them, sit trot without stirrups for a minute or two. Nothing too serious, but focus on sitting nice and tall, shoulders back, legs in line with your hips. And take your stirrups again, they won't feel long then!

I've never ridden in a Caldwell but in my experience with a treeless they really suck you down in them. I actually didn't like that because I like to be able to move and position myself how I want. But the feel a treeless gives you is awesome. First I would try lengthening your stirrups a touch and doing some exercises for dropping your heels. You may end up needing a saddle that sits you back more, but that won't fix the pointing toes. My favorite at-home exercise is to stand on a step with the ball of my foot and drop my heels, letting them sink as far as they comfortably can. Doing this a few times every day helps to stretch your leg. When you ride, make sure you are letting your weight sink into your heel with your toes pointing straight forward. It's sometimes easy to forget something like that when you're so focused on running barrels or whatever, but if you work on it at home it will become a reflex.
