| What could be causing this? Hocks? Stifles? |

Location: Oklahoma | A hundred different things. Bleeding, suspensory issues, wrong angles on feet, sore SI, saddle not fitting, sore stifles and hocks (although they usually don't work very good if these are sore), low blood count, infection, sore ankles, negative palmer angles, chip or bone spur in joints, OCD lesions, EPM in early stages, just to name a few. Take the horse to a qualified equine vet that specializes in performance horses and have a complete work up. That's the only way you'll know. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I have one that's the same way. I hate to tell you but... If it can be injected it's been injected. He's been scoped for bleeding and ulcers. Has had many many hundreds of dollars worth of X-rays and blood work. He gets regular chiropractic checks and sees a dentist once a year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him. I can whip kick hollar or sit perfectly still and do nothing and it's the same speed. He is just very unmotivated. I wish mine was a pain issue so I could fix it and move on but it's not. Now that's not saying it's not a pain issue with yours but that's how mine is.

Location: Phoenix | If it's not pain, I would look into body work and laser treatment. Mine fires and has a lot more pep once he's been adjusted and/or used a cold laser on. |

Location: Louisiana | My poor boy hasn't been firing for the past 12-18 months. Every now and then I'd get a run where he ran the entire time. And he was still winning money high loping out, grrrr. I knew he had some issues in his right front, I had his knee, pastern, and coffin injected over the past 2 years. Knee 2 years ago, and coffin twice in the past year. Just within the past 4-5 runs did he start not working. Running deep in his first, then slinging his butt a bit on the second. Minimal things. Very slight anxiety at the alley.
Well... We just got back from Dr. Tanner at Elgin and he needs coffin and knee of the right front, as well as hocks and stifles. He was verrrrry stifle sore, from compensating for so long. His hocks were worse per xrays but not as sore. The frustrating part is I had his hocks xrayed before... He looked at my old xrays and pointed out the issues, from 2 years ago. I felt so bad :(
He advised me to wait until spring to inject to maximize on the time I get from them. I don't ride much in the winter, I'll be doing good to keep him in decent shape honestly lol. But anyway, I can't wait until I do have him feeling better and start running again to see what kind of horse I have!! He was hitting here and there at the rodeos feeling bad. So I'm getting my butt in shape so he doesn't run out from under me next year! Haha |

| Have you ever had to do something that you weren't 100 percent committed to? But you did it anyway because you were compliant? Why would a horse be any different? I have had one horse that was sweet and kind, bred to be 1d and ran a 1d pattern. But it just wasn't his favorite job so he only went about half effort. Not all horses want to be barrel horses. Sometimes it's just the truth. Not some medical issue. |

Location: cincinnati, oh | I have one that stops firing in the winter. Still spins the tops off three but just doesnt fire. I still cant figure it out. I think I'm just moving south because she and I clearly need to be in a warmer climate to be happy in the winter. LOL |

| Not being committed is not this mares problem. She is a 1D and pro rodeo winner. But it has been 18 months since she was injected. I talked to vet. And he seems to think Coffin bone or that she bled. She is on lasix. Have spot Friday morning. She is on CurOst Total Support and gets the pure on days she runs. I'm kind of disappointed if this is a pain issue. |

Location: North Dakota | I would think your injections have wore off..18 months is a long time to go especially if you have had confirmed arthritis. |
