Location: Midwest | Anyone from there or know the area?
My boss is sending his daughter and I to pick up a trailer. He's letting us stay a day before we drive back up home. Any must go places to eat? Or see? Or inbetween there and DFW area since we are taking that way back up!?
I know I'll only be in Texas for a day but I'm still really excited! LOL
Thanks! |

| Madisonville is pretty much a wide spot in the road.
Huntsville will be the closest place to get into any kind of trouble.

| Madisonville is a small town with nothing special to see or do. Huntsville is a college town south of there with a few good restaurants. College Station is a BIG college town about 30-40 min away but has a huge variety of good places to eat and lots of nightlife. I-45 runs from Madisonville to Dallas but for the most part it is smaller rural towns. |

Location: west of East Texas | I live here. Depends on what day you are staying here and what you want to do and how old you are. Where are you coming from? You may want to pick up the trailer, turn around and go spend the night in Fort Worth at the Stockyards if you're over 21. If it's this weekend and you're coming from far away, you may want to detour over to Waco and watch some of the Elite barrel race/futurity/horse sale. Give me more details and I'll try to think of some more ideas. |

Location: Texas | Madisonville has a decent western wear store named the Mulebarn. They have lots of cool boots. The clothing selection is so/so but great boots |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | There is a really good place to eat in Madisonville. I believe it is right in the town square, steak house sort of place. I haven't been to Madisonville for about 6 years so it may not be there still. |

Location: Texas | What days are you coming? I live in Centerville north of Madisonville. Legends steakhouse is next to Mulebarn and is a good place to eat. But if you are there on Friday or Saturday night stop in Leona and eat at the Leona General Store north of Madisonville. The BEST steaks around. When they say 16 oz it is 16 oz after it is cooked. Not much on the menu, Steak or chicken but it is so good! There is a new Days Inn you can stay in if you need a hotel. Also the Woodbine Hotel has really good lunches. Walker's Cafe is good cooking also, slow, but good. It's on the square. I don't live there but work there. If you like Mexican food, the Mexican food place on the square is good too. For BBQ if the truck is there in the WalMart parking lot, Mallet Bros, it is really good. Their chicken salad is the best!

Location: NE TX | I had family that lived just outside Madisonville and have family in Huntsville and I also drive to Houston a few times a year and every time I go through Madisonville I stop at Buccee's. There's also one in Terrell now just outside of Dallas. The restrooms are always CLEAN and you can get yourself in a LOT of trouble shopping while you wait for your food to be ready. Gas can be a little higher priced, but the food is cheap and really good, they have homemade fudge and LOTS of fun things for your house and for yourself that can easily make you spend way too much money. |
