| I have a mare that is named Dudewheresmylena - was born somewhere around when that stupid movie came out, and the people that registered her let their 11 year old son name her. I HATE it. I wish I could have changed hers, but she had already been entered in an aqha show, so I couldn't. My other mare who is a complete princess diva, the most girly girl there ever is, was named juan smart king. Which is great as far as referencing her lineage, but it sounds like her name is juan, which sounds like a macho, buff, hispanic man, and that she is not. So, I changed her name, she was 2 and wasn't even broke, so they didn't give me a problem with changing it. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | I changed the name on a yearling I purchased this summer---I was afraid that no announcer would be able to pronounce it correctly when she was being run, so I changed it to something easier to say. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | My cousin has been in a year long battle of transfering ownership AND changing her horses name. The mare wasn't transfered correctly to begin with. What a nightmare! |

Location: Desert Land | I would never change a registered name personally and wouldn't like it if someone changed a name I had given a horse. If it was distasteful or offensive, maybe I would understand - but I think I have only heard like 1 or 2 names that I thought..."wow, whoever named that horse was smokin crack". LOL |

Location: Red Raiderland | I have a retired solid Paint that had one of the worst names I had ever heard but I retired him due to injury so I never did change his name. Here it is and it has NOTHING to do with his breeding. I think the breeder had no idea what color he was so they just linked three possibilities together: Choco Paladunn http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/choco+paladunn
Oops can someone make this link live? I don't know why I can't ever do this when I post on here. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I saw one recently I had sold. They changed her name. I think it is aweful, but not something I will lose sleep over. I had a more generic name, something that contained some bloodlines and fit her well. Theirs is off the wall. But it doesn't offend me. I have mentioned it on previous posts, but I bought one named Rebullion. I thought it sucked. He was to be a stud, so with his Bully Bullion sire and Rebel Cause bred dam, I changed it to Bully Without A Cause. Of course he died 3 days later lol. Bad luck?? hmmmm. Kidding as I have done it since and would do it again.
