Kind of a spin off of the WNFR analysis thread !

This was my first year running, before this I've done a lot of team roping and such, and the same goes for my donkey. I trained her from scratch myself, she's a 6 year old grade QH that I got for free.

These runs are all in chronological order:

Here's a few pics of my looney-toon:

Have you been using the advice given since the last time you posted videos? Are any of these videos more recent than that thread? Just wondering if you personally think she's been doing better than she was then.  You have a lot of room to progress, I think she is really quite a nice horse.

Nice mare! I'm glad I'm not the only one that takes chances on those grade horses every once in a while

The last video is the newest... Not sure if y'all have seen that one or not. I ruined the first barrel for her there.

You've got to get your body out of go mode. Think whoa mode and get her snappy around her barrels. I see TONS of potential!

I think you have a super nice little horse on your hands...but I agree, maybe take the GO out of your body and help her collect up a little more into the turns. She looks like she really is listening, I'd like to see you rate her, get her hind end driven up under her so she can drive from the back end in the turns.

I had a feeling I was at fault for everything LOL!

I trained myself a horse that knows more about running than me it would seem......
Thanks everyone! I feel like I just need to get out and about more, go to more jackpots and get comfortable running. There wasn't a whole lot of "whoa" back in my team roping days (Header!) and after those days, I've just been on colts and training this monkey, so there wasn't a whole lot of go.... ever.

Thanks everyone! I'm excited to see what we can accomplish with a little more work!

I think you should be very proud of your mare and yourself. And with the advice you're getting, you and she will only get better

I am not expert by any means and always learning too but I saw a couple of things that might help. On the second video it looks like between two and three you are kind of drifting into an arc instead of making a straight line and putting her right where she needs to be for her pocket and then she comes off three a little wide because of it. I have been working on the same thing lol. On the last video it looks like you went to one hand really soon and staying two handed a little bit longer might help that first turn some. Another thing I have had to work on in the past! I sure thought I was two handed and driving long enough till my friend said something and I watched the video! Anyway it looks like you have a great horse and have done a great job so far!

Nice mare, the thing I saw, but you didnt do it all the time was you started to lean going into the third barrel in the second video I think, try staying sitting up. I think you have a cool mare.

I agree with some of the others that said you need to ride two handed way more and really help keep her straight between barrels and get her using her rear end to engage for the turn. Also, I would add you are really leaning going into the turn. If you will sit more square, it will help her a ton. You can still lift your inside shoulder and use your feet to help her ribcage flex and hip engage but keep your seat square as you set her up for the turn. Maybe try focusing on looking between her ears or a spot on the fence. Finally, I'm okay with being aggressive between barrels but you need to quiet your hands and body down thru the actual turn itself. Halfway around the first barrel in the last video, you've basically already left that turn with your hands and body and so she speeds up before she should and thus steps out leaving it. Which, as you know, sets up a bad angle for second. I like your mare and am envious of your body type..... You have all the tools, just have to put it together.
