Location: Ohio | Ok, I have two mares. One is a proven barrel mare. First Down French and Jaguar.... Other mare is unshown due to injury. She's a Hollywood Vintage x Hollywood Dun It and Smart Little Lena on bottom side. Both conformationally correct. Trying to decide what a better cross would be. Cross the running mare on a cowbred or another running bred stud? She's currently in foal to an own son of Frenchman's Guy. The cowbred mare is bred to a Reiner and both are due in 2016. Wondering if I should mix the cross up. |

Location: Where its cold and hot | I am a huge fan of the cow run crosses but don't have anything against cow/cow or run/run either. We bred our colonel freckles X peppy San badger mare to Knud With Wings, a AAA son of First down dash. Also bred our toast to dash X rare bar mare to a son of FG. |

| I adore them both. My little mare is cow/run. She's out of a cutting stud on an old school runner, Ettabo granddaughter. She's fantastic. My gelding I just retired is by an ancient Leo bred stud, out of an appendix mare. Those two are the most fun in the whole world to run, and talk about pain tolerance!
Everything else I have is run/run off the track, and I love running them, but I swear they bump themselves in the trailer and the whole show goes up in smoke. "It hurts SOO BAD. I can't do it!"
Good solid cow/running bred crosses are extremely hard to find. The performance kind I mean. |

| I would find a running horse built to use themselves. Example: Ivory James, Best Advice, Stoli
Barrel racing is a speed event, and using them on a cow type or run type should promote some speed that will be able to turn. Form to Function in my opinion. |

I agree 100% with you. Lots of horses went thru the sale that I wouldn't consider due to structure. |

| A really cool cow/run cross is Jessie Telford's horse, "Playguns Fame" (own son of Playgun and out of a DTF mare). Do any of you know of a stallion out there with this kind of cross? Would love to find one! |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | My fastest horse right now is out of Hollywood dunit/dun it with style/triple chick/Leo (mostly foundation). She can't outrun you in a straight line but she will out turn a lot of them!
She has the heart to try to run as fast as she can but with all that turn that's what makes her a winner.

| I have a cow bred mare top and bottom, and I have always wanted to breed her to get her replacement, and I intend on crossing her with run to add a tad of height and a little more speed. |

A friend of mine owns a really nice young stallion by Fiestas Gotta Gun (by Playgun) out of a Dash Ta Fame daughter. He's only a coming 3yo but he's kept me updated on his progress throughout training and he sounds like one sensible, talented dude! http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/famous+son+of+a+gun |

He is coming three, Never had plans to keep a stallion but he has impressed us enough so far to give him a chance. He has been real mellow, trainable and just fun to ride. Had about 45 rides spread over the summer. Carries a lot of size and bone. Looking forward to crossing him on Sun Frost/Frenchmans mares and also would like to see what he would produce on an ASOF dgtr. Enough sounding like every other owner who is pretty sure theirs is the next great thing! Thanks again for mentioning him. https://youtu.be/5dITibMPYU8
